Dear Take in Mind Readers!
Because of the rapid spread of COVID-19, and especially due to the lack of reliable scientific information, numerous false recommendations about the coronavirus’ prevention and treatment have spread on the Internet and social networks. Most of these false statements do not meet (and even contradict) the recommendations of official medical organizations. Moreover, such misinformation interferes the quickest establishment of the fact of infection, the fastest (and earliest) isolation and assistance to the infected persons, as well as disturbing the preventive methods to those who were in contact with them. This “infodemia” not only deteriorates the psychological situation, but also has a direct effect on the speed of the virus spread and the ability to control it, what will ultimately increase the number of victims.
Unfortunately, a considerable part of such fake information is presented as coming from the physicians. Referring to the professionals, these “advisers” recommend clinically untested methods and bioactive compounds (often useless and even dangerous) as an alternative to the official recommendations of the WHO, CDC and local medical authorities. In other words, such “pseudo-medical” recommendations not only put the people into mortal danger, but also make impossible to control the spread of coronavirus.
We kindly ask (1) to act solely in accordance with professional formal recommendations of the medical authorities in your country; and (2) please do not disseminate unverified and fake information – this increases already existing terrible chaos.
We wish you good health and happiness.
